She is a fellow at the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota\, teaches at the Loft Literary Center\, and works in clean energy policy. She lives with her family in St. Paul where she makes daily visits to the Mississippi River. \nAbout Core Samples:\nClimate scientist and policy expert Anna Farro Henderson embarks on a remarkable narrative journey in Core Samples\, exploring how science is done\, discussed\, legislated\, and imagined. Through stories both raucous and poignant—of far-flung expeditions\, finding artistic inspiration in research\, and traversing the systemic barriers women and mothers face in science and politics—she brings readers into the daily rhythms and intimacies of scientific research and political negotiation. \nThis event is made possible in part through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.

DESCRIPTION:SMSU Theatre’s spring production is SHOUT! The Mod Musical\, created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein. Performances are April 10 through April 13 at 7:30 pm and April 12 and 13 at 2 pm in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre. Tickets are $10 and will be available only at the door. Seating is first-come\, first-served. Admission is free for SMSU employees and students with valid ID. Free and convenient parking is available in lot B-1. \nWith its irresistible blend of pop music hits\, colorful fashions\, and swinging dance moves\, SHOUT! follows five groovy gals coming of age in England from 1960 to 1970\, as they redefine themselves in the face of changing attitudes about gender. In this energetic revue\, classic pop tunes including “Downtown\,” “Son of a Preacher Man\,” and “Goldfinger” are tied together by hilarious sound bites from the period – from ‘60s magazine ads to letters answered by an advice columnist.

DESCRIPTION:Frank Sachs will present\, “Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall” at the Lyon County Museum\, 301 West Lyon Street\, Marshall on Tuesday\, April 15 at 6:30 PM.\nThe Berlin Wall marked the official opening of the Cold War and was a physical barrier dividing Berlin into East and West sections to prevent citizens from escaping to the West\, effectively symbolizing the Cold War division between communist and democratic powers; however\, the fall of the wall in November of 1989 is widely considered a major turning point in the Cold War\, signifying the decline of communist power in Eastern Europe and the eventual reunification of Germany.\nFrank Sachs is a retired twin cities educator with a BS in American History and a MS in Guidance and Counseling. He has taught in college\, and public and private schools for 45 years. The last 37 were at the Blake School in Minneapolis where he was Director of College Counseling while teaching in the Social Studies department. Frank retired from Blake in 2019 and is now serves as Faculty Emeritus.\nFree will donation. Light refreshments will be served.\nFor more information\, contact the Lyon County Museum at 507-537-6580.
