SUMMARY:City Band Concerts
DESCRIPTION:The City of Marshall band season begins on Wednesday\, June 7th at the Liberty Park Bandshell. All concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. and be held on Wednesdays through July 19th. There will be no concert on Wednesday\, July 5th. The 4th of July concert will be held at Independence Park. There will be featured guests based on availability as well as some special events! Follow Marshall\, MN Municipal Band on Facebook for up-to-date information regarding special highlights throughout the season. Concerts are free of charge\, all local and area residents\, as well as visitors are welcome. Benches for seating are available\, yet you may also bring your own lawn chairs and/or blankets. We encourage everyone to bring their family and friends to come out and enjoy one of Marshall’s longest tenured entertainment jewels.

DESCRIPTION:Relay for Life is a one day event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. We will have activities throughout the evening\, including music and trivia by Push Play Entertainment\, a chili cook-off\, silent auction\, various food trucks\, and more! Two honorary survivors will be recognized at our opening ceremony at 7:00\, and the luminaria track will be lit during a ceremony at dusk (around 9:00). Of course we will also have our luminaria track to honor those who have fought\, beat\, and been lost to cancer. Contact any of our planning committee members to purchase luminaria for $10 each. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society to help fund their cancer research\, treatment\, and care for patients and their families. \nThis year our event is being held in conjunction with Sounds of Summer: Thursday\, August 17\, 2023\, in the parking lot at 101 W Saratoga St in Marshall. DESCRIPTION:Peter Haakon Thompson\, a Minneapolis-based artist\, is bringing his mobile sign shop to 13 Plum Creek Library System libraries. Each location will be equipped with sixty sign blanks\, paint\, and staff for the three-hour program. The artist will instruct participants on how to ready sign blank for carving\, carve their sign\, and provide paint and brushes for participants to personalize their signs. The MSS is housed on a trailer stocked with sign-making supplies and holds workshops for participants to create their own\, customized\, carved wooden signs and provides guidance and prompts on how to make a name sign along with materials\, paint\, brushes\, etc. as well as assistance in carving out letters with a router. \nPlease note that only 20 signs can be made during each hour of this event.
