SUMMARY:TubaChristmas
DESCRIPTION:TubaChristmas was founded in 1974\, by the late Harvey Phillips\, one of the greatest tuba players and teachers of his day\, and an ardent advocate for low brass. What started with a few concerts around Indiana and in New York City has become a nationwide celebration of low brass with hundreds of TubaChristmas celebrations throughout the country. The Music Program at SMSU has been a proud part of this tradition since 2013. \nThe TubaChristmas performance is free an open to the public. It will take place in the upper level of the Student Center at SMSU at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday\, December 13th. \nIf you play a low brass instrument (tuba\, euphonium\, baritone\, or trombone)\, you are invited to join us as a performer. Registration will take place at 9:30 a.m. that day (with a $15 participant fee that goes to the Harvey Phillips Foundation) followed by a rehearsal at 10:00 a.m. in the Band room at SMSU (Fine Arts building\, room 135). \nJoin us for a festive celebration of low brass and the holiday season.

DESCRIPTION:Bask in musical glow of music from the Emerald Isle. The SMSU/Community Concert Band will present a program of music by Irish composers. The concert features music from all parts of Irish culture. From lively dances and marches to lullabies; from music written for the pub to music written for the stage and screen; come experience the music of Ireland. The concert will take place on Thursday\, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre. The concert is free and open to the public (with free parking in the B lot just outside the Fine Arts building).

DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use the Library’s Mark S. Goodenow Preservation Lab to digitize old photos\, slides\, cassette recordings\, home movies\, and more. We’ll walk you through the process for each type of media available. Feel free to bring your own photos\, slides\, cassette tapes\, VHS tapes\, or 8mm film. \nRegistration is required and space is limited. Contact the library to register: 507-537-7003\, library@marshalllyonlibrary.org\, or in person. Sessions are generally held at least once a month. \nThe Preservation Lab is free to use and open to the public. To use the Lab\, you must be 18 or older; have a library card in good standing; complete training with Library staff on the equipment you intend to use; and have a Preservation Lab Agreement on file. Group training sessions are generally held at least once a month. Individual training is available as staff schedules allow. To schedule individual training or reserve a day in the lab\, please contact the library.
