“Heartland” Book Club
Join the Marshall-Lyon County Library in reading Sarah Smarsh’s award-winning book Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth.
The book is available at the Marshall, Balaton, and Cottonwood Libraries. Large print copies are also available.
Two discussion times have been scheduled: Monday, June 17th at 6:30 pm and Friday, June 21st at noon.
Our discussion is part of the NEA Big Read in collaboration with Move for America.
From the book’s description: ” Combining memoir with powerful analysis and cultural commentary, Heartland is an uncompromising look at class, identity, and the particular perils of economic hardship in a country known for its excess.”
